Poultry welfare & breeding

At Aggelakis S.A we breed our chickens in our privately-owned farms, following the European Animal Welfare Rules, which are based on five principles, to ensure:

1. Ready access to fresh water and feed for each individual bird.
2. Freedom from fear and distress.
3. Freedom from discomfort.
4. Freedom from pain, disease or injury.
5. Freedom to express (most) normal behaviours by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animals’ own kind.

Aggelakis S.A. strictly observes the above rules, ensuring that chickens are raised in a comfortable environment, with ideal temperature and humidity conditions, and fully controlled lighting levels to secure the necessary blackout that allows the birds to get the rest they need.
